 Sodium Saccharin

Sodium Saccharin, also known as sodium phthaloylsulphonimide, was developed in 1879 and is the earliest artificial non nutritive sweetener. It is soluble in water, and its sweetness in dilute solution is 200~500 times that of sucrose. When the concentration is high, it has a bitter taste. When heated under acidic conditions, the sweet taste disappears, and it can form bitter o-aminosulfonylbenzoic acid. It is used as a sugar substitute by patients with obesity, hyperlipidemia, diabetes and dental caries because of its low calorie, non absorption by the human body, and automatic discharge with urination and defecation. In addition, it can also be used as brightener, blood circulation measuring agent, penetrant, etc. of nickel chromium electroplating, with a wide range of uses.

SPECIFICATION

MOLECULAR STRUCTURE:

Molecular Formula: C7H4NNaO3S·2H2O

Molecular Weight: 205.166

Description : Colorless crystal or slightly white crystalline powder, generally containing two crystal water, is easy to lose the crystal water and become anhydrous saccharin, which is white powder, odorless or slightly aromatic, and tastes strong, sweet and bitter with Chemicalbook. The sweetness of saccharin sodium is about 500 times that of sucrose. Sodium saccharin has weak heat resistance and alkali resistance. The sweet taste gradually disappears when heated under acidic conditions, and the taste is bitter when the solution is greater than 0.026%..

Sweeteners and saccharin sodium are organic chemical synthetic products. They are food additives rather than food. They have no nutritional value to the human body except for sweet taste. On the contrary, when eating more saccharin, it will affect the normal secretion of digestive enzymes in the stomach and intestines, reduce the absorption capacity of the small intestine, and reduce appetite. It is widely used in the following industries of Chemicalbook: 1. Food: general cold drinks, beverages, jellies, cold fruits, protein sugar, etc. 2. Feed additives: pig feed, sweeteners, etc. 3. Daily chemical industry: toothpaste, swish saliva, eye drops, etc. 4. Electroplating industry: Electroplating brighteners are widely used, and the total export volume accounts for most of China's production.
